MLM and the law

Certainly not anyone who is interested in the topic of multilevel marketing knows the fact that many issues related to it are regulated by the law.

Lets mention a situation that took place in 1979. The Federal Trade Commission found that one of companies (Amway Corp.) operated illegally. The multilevel marketing applied there introduced high result and income demands from all of the employees and distributors, which were simply impossible to achieve. This should be a point to think about for all those employees that feel they are overused by their employers.

This does not necessarily mean that the distributor is requested to do impossible things, but it also applies to issues such as the unannounced change of fees, lowering it without any apparent reason, etc. The mentioned Federal Trade Commission also suggested not to fully trust companies which give priority to the highest number of employees recruited over the sales. In fact, in order to work for a given company which is using a multilevel marketing a candidate must provide many private data, and if the employer is unfair, you may find this information being resold to other companies. As one might easily guess, such activities are illegal.

In MLM marketing one must also avoid companies and individuals who offer a position in a company’s structure for a small fee that must be paid before work. If a company we are interested in advertises its multilevel marketing but wants to be paid at the early beginning, it is better to find another employer.
